What is a helmet brim and why do I need one?
Think of it as a cap peak for your helmet! It clips on to give you sun and glare protection while you ride. No more squinting into the sunset or getting blinded on those bright morning hacks. Your helmet stays safe and ventilated - you just get to actually see where you're going.
Will it fit my helmet?
It fits all standard equestrian riding helmets with front visor. The design works with all the usual brands. We've got Regular width for everyday rides (most popular size, and is the Akubra hat brim width) and Ultra-Wide for serious sun.
What's the difference between Regular and Ultra-Wide?
Regular is your everyday sun protection - perfect for most rides. Ultra-Wide is for when you're out all day or the sun's absolutely brutal. Same quality, same fit, just more coverage. Pick what suits your riding style!
Can you make a small inner size brim to suit kids helmet?
Yes, for sure if this is what you would like but there should be any need due to the elastic center that pulls over the helmet and sticks with Velcro If you would still like smaller inner brim please add in the comments when you place your order and the brim will be made up and posted
Can I get a flatter brim?
Yes you can all you need to do as add in extra comments that you would like a flatter brim and it will be made up and posted to you
How does it attach to my helmet?
Your Helmet Brim attaches with a secure silicone grip system, no adhesive and no tools needed, so it's quick to pop on and just as easy to take off when you want a change. It fits most helmet brands and sizes, from kids right through to adults, and once it's on, it stays put through wind, speed and a full day in the saddle.
Do they attached permanently or can you take them off and on?
The brim doesn't stay on permanently. It uses a secure silicone grip system that attaches to your helmet, so you can remove it and put it back on as you wish.
Does the Helmet Brim Fit all sized Helmets?

Dose the Brims lose shape?
The only time a Brim will lose its shape if it gets caught up in gear when travelling or stored for the winter other things can happen as well but in general the wire in the brim is spring steel and Farley sturdy can be reshaped

Yes, currently there is one size available for the bicycle helmet brim. We offer multiple styles and shapes to suit different helmet types, so check the product descriptions to find your best match.
How much does the bicycle helmet brim cost and what about shipping?
It's $89.95 with FREE worldwide shipping included. Same price whether you're down the road or on the other side of the planet. Note: US riders will see an additional tariff at checkout.

Sun Protection
What's the UV rating of the Helmet Brim?
The UV rating go's off the shade cloth its self as its 87% so you still get great protection . I must point out that while your riding you can still get UV burning as there is reflections from the Tar Road ,water and other surroundings that will play a part
Does it still work on cloudy days?
Yes, UV still gets through cloud cover, so your Helmet Brim keeps working even when the sun isn't shining directly on you. Plenty of riders get caught out on overcast days thinking they're safe, so keeping your brim on is a good habit no matter what the sky looks like.
Do I still need sunscreen if I'm wearing a Helmet Brim?
I'd always recommend sunscreen as part of your sun safe routine, especially on any skin your Helmet Brim doesn't cover. Your brim does the heavy lifting for your face, ears and neck with UPF50+ protection, and sunscreen rounds out the rest.
Does reflected sunlight (off water or roads) still reach me?
Reflected sunlight from water, roads or even sand can still reach your skin, and it's one of those things riders don't think about until it catches them out. Your Helmet Brim blocks around 87 to 90% of UV, giving you strong coverage while you're out riding in real conditions.

How long will my order take?
We dispatch daily, so your order will be on its way within 3 days at the most, usually sooner.
Once it's dispatched, here's what to expect:
- Australia: 4 to 7 days
- New Zealand: 5 to 10 days
- USA: 10 to 15 days
- Rest of the world: 10 to 25 days
Delivery times can vary depending on your local carrier and customs, but you'll get tracking as soon as your order ships so you can follow it the whole way.
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes, I ship Helmet Brims worldwide, and shipping is always free no matter where you're ordering from. Wherever you're riding, staying sun safe shouldn't come with an extra cost.
Do I have to pay customs or tariffs?
Customs charges and tariffs can vary depending on where you live, so it's worth checking with your local customs office for anything specific to your country. If you're ordering from the USA, tariffs do apply and are assessed based on the value of your order at the time of purchase. I dispatch every order daily and do everything on my end to make the process as smooth as possible.
How will I know when my order has shipped?
You'll get a shipping notification as soon as your order is on its way, so you can keep an eye on it from there. Orders are dispatched daily, and transit times will depend on your location and the carrier.
What's the postage time frame for overseas?
USA can be 10 to 20 Days

Care & Durability
How long will my Helmet Brim last?
Your Helmet Brim is handcrafted using heavy-duty Australian shade cloth and reinforced with spring steel wire, so it's built to last for years, not just a season. Plenty of my riders have had theirs going strong through years of regular rides.
How do I keep the shape of the brim over time?
The spring steel wire inside your brim keeps its shape well, as long as it's stored properly rather than squashed in a bag. If it ever loses its shape a little, a gentle reshape by hand will sort it out, and I've got a tutorial online to show you how.
How do I restore shape if brims gets bent edge?

How do I clean it?
A wipe down with a damp cloth is usually all your Helmet Brim needs after a dusty ride. It's made to handle real riding conditions, so a little dirt won't slow it down.
How much can I shape the brim?
You can but not very much due to the spring wire in the edge as this keeps the brims shape.

Yes, custom sizing is available on the bicycle Helmet Brim at no extra cost, so you can get a fit that's right for you. Just add a note to your order letting me know what you need and I'll take care of the rest.

Who makes Helmet Brims?
Every Helmet Brim is handmade by me in country NSW, using over thirty years of sewing experience and heavy-duty Australian shade cloth. I'm proud to say they're Australian made and owned, from start to finish.
Why did you start this business?
I've been riding since I was seven, and after years of endurance rides I realised there was nothing out there that actually gave real sun protection while riding. I used my sewing background to design something that stayed put in the wind and did the job properly, and Helmet Brims was born.
